The Center for Children and Families is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Monroe, LA

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

The Center for Children & Families is seeking a Staff Accountant to support The Center by gathering information for monthly financials, providing monthly reports, running payroll, running accounts payable, reconciling the bank statement, processing checks, ensuring tax payments are made timely, providing necessary reports and documents for grants, and assisting the CFO.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • 4 year accounting degree, masters degree is preferred
  • 5 years experience in related accounting fields.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal and ethical issues concerning financials
  • Knowledge and understanding of QuickBooks software
  • Ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to organize files.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Commitment to the Goals and Mission of The Center for Children and Families
  • Understand internal controls and abide by them.
  • Run bi-monthly payroll and reimbursements for the staff
  • Reconcile bank statement monthly
  • Ensures all tax advice is technically correct and properly documented
  • Work with Financial Assistant on Accounts Payable
  • Work with CFO on Accounts Receivable.
  • Provide necessary reports and financial summaries for specific grants within the agency
  • Prepare for and assist in annual audit of the company
  • Process checks for Financial Assistant as needed
  • Provide variance analysis of financial data monthly
  • Stay abreast of any legal and ethical issues concerning the agency’s finances
  • Understand the company’s policies, procedures, and professional standards
  • Assist CFO with compliance standards for different grants and entities.
  • Make necessary adjusting journal entries
  • Assist the CFO in any matter needed
  • Complete work time sheets weekly.
  • Complete all necessary training.
  • Attend All Staff Trainings
  • Participate in performance evaluations of this position as directed by the CFO
  • Other duties as assigned.
